More from your PGA of Canada member benefits: a closer look at Entente Plus coverage

Earlier this year, we shared an update on the Entente Plus Group Insurance Program, available exclusively to PGA of Canada members.

As the year continues, it is a good time to take a closer look at some of the coverage options that can help support you and your family at home, at work and while travelling.

The Entente Plus Group Insurance Program is owned and managed by Entente Education Canada and administered by GreenShield. PGA of Canada members can choose the coverage that best fits their needs, including Extended Health Care, Dental, and Hospital and Convalescent Care.

Here are four areas worth knowing more about.

Travel coverage that goes where the game takes you

Travel is part of life for many PGA of Canada members, whether you are heading to a tournament, travelling for work, visiting family or taking time away.   Travel insurance is built into the Entente Plus Extended Health Care plan and includes emergency medical and trip cancellation/interruption coverage. The plan provides coverage for unlimited trips of up to 93 days each, with up to $10 million in emergency medical coverage per insured person, per trip, and up to $6,000 per insured person, per trip for eligible trip cancellation and interruption expenses.

If you need to travel for longer than 93 days, additional coverage options are available.

Prescription drug coverage for everyday health needs

Prescription medications can be a significant ongoing expense, particularly for individuals and families managing regular or long-term health needs.

The Extended Health Care plan reimburses 85% of eligible prescription drug costs, up to $3,400 per insured person for each calendar year, subject to the plan’s terms and generic substitution provisions.

Plan participants can also use GreenShield Pharmacy™, a voluntary online pharmacy service that offers home delivery across Canada and enhanced reimbursement on eligible prescription drug ingredient costs.

Hospital coverage that can help with added costs

Provincial and territorial health plans cover many hospital services, but they do not necessarily cover every accommodation or recovery-related expense.

The optional Hospital and Convalescent Care plan reimburses 95% of the daily cost difference for semi-private hospital accommodation in a licensed Canadian hospital, with no annual maximum for eligible semi-private room charges.

The plan also includes eligible convalescent facility or home-care benefits following hospitalization or certain day surgeries, helping provide additional support during recovery.

Dental coverage for routine care and more

The optional Dental plan helps with costs ranging from preventive care to more significant restorative treatment.

Basic and preventive services are reimbursed at 85% with no annual maximum. The plan also includes coverage for minor restorative services and major restorative services such as crowns, bridges and dentures, subject to reimbursement levels and annual maximums.

No medical questionnaire is required to apply for Dental coverage.

Coverage that works around your needs

PGA of Canada members can choose single, couple or family coverage and select the Entente Plus plans that make sense for their situation.

New PGA of Canada members can qualify for guaranteed acceptance within 60 days of joining the PGA of Canada. Existing members may also qualify for guaranteed acceptance for Extended Health Care and Hospital and Convalescent Care when coming from another group plan. Otherwise, a short medical questionnaire may apply. Dental coverage does not require medical evidence.

If you are already enrolled, you can manage claims, review coverage, and access plan information through the Entente Plus portal.

If you are considering coverage, take a few minutes to review the available plans, compare the options, and see what may fit your needs.
