Ian Webb Scholarships Supported by The Personal Group

In early 2019, Ian Webb—a nearly 30-year proud PGA of Canada member—was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Webb started at Credit Valley in 2000 as the Director of Golf and in 2008 he was promoted to the role of General Manager/Chief Operating Officer. His love for Credit Valley and its people ran deep, as many considered him to be a patriarch of the club. The Canadian (and worldwide) golf community rallied in support of Ian, who was regarded as one of the best people in the business.

To help share Ian’s story and create his legacy as a legendary PGA of Canada member, we renamed our scholarship program in his honour.  Moving forward, PGA of Canada Foundation scholarships will now be referred to as the Ian Webb Scholarships supported by The Personal Group. We were so blessed to have Ian as a PGA of Canada member and are so pleased to rename our scholarship program after him.

In an effort to promote and foster ongoing education for PGA of Canada Members and Apprentices, the Webby Fund—  in support of the PGA of Canada Foundation— will offer scholarship funding of varying amounts to qualified and selected applicants who are engaged in continuing their education through full-time studies. These scholarships are also open to any Sons/Daughters, Grandchildren or Spouses of PGA of Canada Members to help further academic achievements.

Applications are judged by a three-member independent panel and awarded based on academic achievement and contributions to the community.

The annual deadline to apply for a scholarship is June 27th, 2025, and the Evaluation Forms must be received by July 9th, 2025. For a copy of the 2025 PGA of Canada Foundation Scholarship Application, click here.

""When you think of a consummate Professional the name that will always be top of the mind for me is Ian Webb. I have been fortunate enough to know Webby for a number of years, as both a fellow PGA member and more recently as a CSCM member.  I've seen Ian interact and mentor numerous young Professionals who have either worked for him or have reached out to him personally for advice. Not only is Ian a highly skilled leader, but he is also somebody whose demeanour is both warming and transparent. These qualities have ensured that these young men and women who have learned from him will be both better professionals and better people for it. After 30+ years in the business, I still seek Ian out on a continual basis for his guidance which I know has made  me a better person and leader. In conclusion, I feel so blessed that I have been lucky enough to call Ian both a mentor and a good friend," — Simon Bevan, Executive Professional, RiverBend Golf Community
