Located in Gatineau (Aylmer), Quebec since its establishment in 1910, Rivermead is one of the top private golf clubs in the National Capital Region. The Club offers its members an outstanding golf, practice, instruction and dining experience; rooted in the Club’s values of camaraderie, inclusivity, bilingualism and family-friendliness.

Rivermead has a historic footing in the history of Canadian golf, having hosted professional and amateur tournaments, including the 1920 Canadian Open. Originally awarded to the winner of the Canadian Open, today, the Rivermead Cup is presented to the low Canadian at the Canadian Open.

Rivermead is in the process of making enhancements to its championship golf course, practice facility and historic clubhouse – charting an exciting path for decades to come.

Job Summary
The successful candidate will share Rivermead’s values and traditions, and possess the leadership, management, and operational qualifications to deliver on the Club’s priorities.
Responsibilities

As a member of the Rivermead management team, the Head Professional oversees the operations of golf services at Rivermead Golf Club. Comprising the golf shop, practice facilities, golf service areas, golf carts and supervision of golf operations staff. Also, they will collaborate with the DGO in the functions of golf programming, including teaching and tournaments/member activities. The position promotes an exceptional "golf experience" and ensures excellence in services and programs for all our members and guests.

Supervised by: Director of Golf and Operations

The position oversees the following positions: Assistant Golf Professional Staff, proshop and back shop Attendants, Starters, Golf Shop Merchandising.

The position also includes responsibilities for the following areas: General golf experience at the Rivermead, operation of golf shop, practice facilities, golf shop merchandising, golf carts, bag storage and hand carts and related fields: Golf lessons, club repair and monitoring compliance with the Rules of Golf.

Qualifications

Maintain and continuously develop the following Knowledge and skills:

  • Maintain PGA of Canada membership in good standing and Class "A"
  • Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, operation of golf facilities and tournaments
  • Demonstrate Fundamental Management Practices and Principles
  • Serve as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees
  • Execute on strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills
  • Consistently demonstrates a service and customer oriented attitude
  • Execution of written and oral commercial promotional communications
  • Keep abreast of CRM tactics and strategies
  • Experienced computer user, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficiency in other applications, such as email, GGgolf, Golf Genius and Trackman.
  • Maintain and promote a positive professional image within the community
  • Attend conferences, workshops, meetings and trade shows to keep abreast of marketing and business trends
  • Maintain a credible golf game and keep abreast of teaching/fitting innovations

Requirements

  • Speak and write French and English fluently (mandatory bilingualism)
  • Solid working experience in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • Previous experience in a leadership position at a private or reputable golf club.
  • A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited post-secondary institution will be an asset
  • Knowledge of GGGolf software, golfgenius or similar golf course management software.
