The Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Club the oldest course in North America is seeking the services of a Head Golf Professional to join our Team.

The Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Course, established in 1875 is the oldest surviving golf course in North America. We are a semi private 9 hole course that runs along the shores of Lake Ontario with many holes that are elevated above the shore’s edge. Play on this full length historic park like setting amidst Fort Mississauga in the heart of Niagara’s historic area. Our spacious Clubhouse has a breathtaking view of the mighty Niagara River and our waterfront patio is a great place to relax after a round of golf.

Job Summary
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work as an integral part of the leadership team at the Niagara-on-the Lake Golf Club. Have full responsibility of our golf operations and to provide the member golf experience, golf lessons and event programming. The primary responsibility of the Head Golf Professional is to provide golfers an exceptional experience. The Head Golf Professional is a highly visible leader with a contagiously friendly demeanor that will stop at nothing to provide a world class golf experience.
Responsibilities
  • As part of the management team, continue to develop the Golf Clubs reputation through consistently delivering high quality customer service
  • Responsible for all golf services and operations
  • Oversee the rental and maintenance of golf carts
  • Oversee the reservation system, starting and monitoring of play
  • Track and verify all members and guests
  • Manage the administration of the handicap program
  • Enforce all rules and regulations governing golf course usage
  • Implementation of policies and procedures and regular scheduling of staff members
  • Recruitment, hiring, training and supervision of all staff including assistant professional, pro shop staff, back shop and starters
  • Develop and oversee the golf instruction and golfer development programs for members, youth and guests
  • Maintain a close relationship with the Golf Superintendent and other Department Heads
  • Manage cash and system controls to endure the safekeeping of assets, inventory and resources
  • Promote a safe workplace by ensuring all staff perform their duties in a safe manner in compliance with all health and safety legislated requirements
  • Manage a profitable Pro Shop merchandise inventory that is consistent with patron demographics and needs
  • Assist in preparation of budgets, forecasting and review of all golf revenues and expenses on a monthly and annual basis
  • Assist in marketing and promotion of Golf Course and Club House, publication of newsletters and promotion materials
  • Represent the Club in PGA tournaments as required
  • Enhance the reputation and the image of the club
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
  • PGA of Canada Class “A” Professional with the PGA of Canada and a member in good standings Proven track record as a Head Golf Professional or Associate Golf Professional at a golf club
  • Possess the desire to deliver outstanding customer service
  • Have an engaging personality with good work habits
  • Be extremely organized with experience in managing leagues, events and retail
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Excellent computer skills, point of sale systems and online tee time reservations
