- Job Summary
- The City of Kitchener proudly owns and operates two golf courses – Doon Valley and Rockway. Joining Team Kitchener means delivering an exceptional customer experience both on and off the course. The Assistant Supervisor/Golf Pro is responsible for all aspects related to the daily golf experience and overseeing all pro shop services and operations.
- Responsibilities

- Oversee all pro shop services and pro shop operations.
- Recruit, train, coach and supervise the Pro Shop and cart staff, greeters, marshals, and starters.
- Oversee and approve all weekly golf staff time sheets /payroll, purchase orders, and invoices.
- Review and manage tee sheet and times blocked for leagues and groups.
- Oversee the reservation system and monitor play.
- Assists with monitoring and updating the ehandicap system for members.
- Enforces golf course rules and regulations.
- Oversee the rental and daily care program of golf carts.
- Develop and manage an innovative league and group program that services all customer segments.
- Attends meetings with representatives of user groups, leagues, and committees.
- Communicates Kitchener Golf objectives and provides appropriate information.
- Adept and tactfully enforces the rules and regulations of the course and resolves difficult customer situations in an effective and diplomatic matter.
- Answers golfers’ questions and directs golfers to appropriate service areas.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, including forecasting and review of all pro shop revenues and expenses on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
- Generates various financial reports and prepares monthly and year end reports.
- Maintain and oversee golf merchandise that is consistent with golfer demographics and needs.
- Supervise physical inventories and the display of merchandise. Assist in the development of necessary systems to safeguard inventories.
- Updates golf software system weekly for promotions and new offerings, fees and changes, new products, vendors, and club accounts.
- Assist in content for newsletters, informational and promotional materials.
- Troubleshoots golf system software (Tee-on) and credit card machine issues and arranges for servicing.
- Respond and assist with on-site emergencies (incidents and accidents); and ensuring the proper reporting, documentation and follow-up is provided.
- Performs other related duties, as required.
- Qualifications

- Grade 12 diploma plus up to 1 year of additional job-related post-secondary education.
- 4-7 years of related experience including an on-the-job period of adjustment.
- PGA of Canada Class “A” Professional and member in good standing preferred.
- Experience with point-of-sale system and Tee-on Software is an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams.
- Ability to deliver outstanding customer service.
- Strong people leader with an ability to build and motivate a team.
- Strong organizational skills with experience managing events, leagues, and retail.
- Ability to take initiative and solve problems effectively.
- Ability to learn and develop new skills.
- In accordance with the City of Kitchener’s Mandatory Verification of COVID-19 Vaccination Policy, new City of Kitchener employees (or employees rehired after a break in service of more than 3 months) are required to be fully vaccinated as a condition of hire, subject to accommodations required in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code.
