The Dunes Golf & Winter Club is presently seeking a Golf Course General Manager to join our organization. Located in Grande Prairie, Alberta, The Dunes is a premier 18-hole golf course complete with Driving Range, Practice Area, Pro-Shop, Restaurant and Banquet Rooms. Privately owned and operated, The Dunes established in 1992 is 100% open to the public. The Dunes hosts Members, Green Fee Players, Leagues, Socials, Corporate Tournaments, Weddings and Events throughout the year.

Job Summary

The General Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the business while being financially accountable and facilitating continued growth within the marketplace. The General Manager position reports to a Board of Directors.

The General Managers primary focus will be to increase the number of visitors to The Dunes. Working with the Management Team they will identify potential market and promotional opportunities to aid in the growth of the facility and the game of golf within the Grande Prairie area.

Responsibilities
  • The General Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the business while being financially accountable and facilitating continued growth within the marketplace. The General Manager position reports to a Board of Directors.
  • The General Manager will promote and encourage a healthy team environment within the organization working toward common goals and a united vision as established with the Board of Directors. The General Manager has a team of five Senior Department Managers reporting directly to them: Golf Operations, Property/Maintenance, Food & Beverage, Marketing and Administration.
  • The General Manager will establish and demonstrate standard practices required to create a professional and welcoming environment for all Dunes guests.
  • This will include a training process to give Managers and Employees the necessary tools, procedures and support promoting employee engagement and delivery of customer service excellence.
  • The General Managers primary focus will be to increase the number of visitors to The Dunes. Working with the Management Team they will identify potential market and promotional opportunities to aid in the growth of the facility and the game of golf within the Grande Prairie area.
  • The General Manager will promote a professional environment, establish and maintain relationships with all customers, members and guests.
  • The General Manager working with the Management Team and The Board, is responsible for developing, managing and maintaining annual operating and capital budgets.
  • The General Manager is responsible to provide accurate and timely information to the Board.
  • The General Manager will lead, support and oversee the Department Managers effectively to create efficiencies and reach the specific goals of each Department.
  • The General Manager is responsible to assist the Administration with allocating department expenses and revenues. Along with the Management Team, the General Manager will identify and establish internal controls to manage operating cost. The General Manager must be able to understand and review the Financial Statements for accuracy and provide monthly information for distribution to the Board of Directors. Review the monthly position of each Department with the Department Manager.
  • The General Manager will maintain, review and update The Dunes policies and procedures with Department Managers.
Qualifications
  • Applicants should possess a minimum of 3 Years Management Experience in a multi-faceted operation and education within Business Admin or experience equivalent to.
  • Golf Course related Management Experience is an asset.
  • Competitive Compensation of an annual salary will be commensurate with experience and skills.
Compensation
  • $6,000-$8,000 per month
