Head Professional

The Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club, established in 1908, is a club that has a rich history and is steeped in tradition. It has hosted two Canadian Amateurs, the America’s Cup, a Men’s Canadian Open, three Canadian Women’s Opens and has been selected to host the 2022 CP Women’s Open (LPGA) in August 2022. The Hunt features 27 holes of exceptional golf, renovated by renowned golf architect Dr. Michael Hurdzan, along with practice facilities that are among the best in Canada. The course has been recognized by Score Golf as the 9th best conditioned and 42nd best overall course in the country.

Job Summary
As a member of the Senior Management Team, this key individual reports directly to the GM-COO and is responsible for ensuring that Club members and their guests receive exceptional service and are provided with a first-class experience through the training and supervision of the entire Golf Operations Team adhering to high service and quality standards. The incumbent is required to develop and monitor budgets, create marketing and sales promotional activities for a well-maintained Golf Shop, manage golf events, research and recommend new services and products to ensure that the Hunt’s offerings are attractive and enticing for members and their guests. The Head Golf Professional is expected to be a leader and a role model by successfully demonstrating the Hunt’s hospitality values and enhancing the Hunt standards with a positive and outgoing friendly demeanor.
Qualifications
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience in the golf industry, at a senior management level, is required.
  • Class “A” member of the PGA of Canada.
  • Head Professional experience or a minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a senior assistant golf professional at a club with an established reputation for service excellence.
  • Highly visible leader with a friendly and outgoing personality.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of the Golf Shop retail business.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, hire, train and motivate Golf Operations staff.
  • Accountable for the creation, implementation of the annual Golf Operations budget and monthly reporting.
  • Proficient instructor well versed in the latest club fitting technologies.
  • Proven leadership, management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with the Management Team.
  • Ability to organize and oversee annual golf events and programs including participation in the internal marketing and administration of such.
  • Ability to manage tee sheets and events through industry software.
  • Familiarity with Jonas, GGGolf and Golf Genius software an asset.
  • Ability to implement, enforce and maintain all policies, programs and plans as established and communicated through the GM-COO.
  • Ability to market, schedule and manage external competitions and events.
  • Provide support for prospective members’ recruitment, new member integration and membership retention programs.
  • Maintain and promote a well-respected and professional image within the Club industry and community.
