Desjardins and Stewart Earn Top Marks for 2008 Canadian PGA Tex Noble Award
(ACTON, ON) February 25, 2009 - The Canadian PGA is pleased to announce that Dallas Desjardins, Head Professional at Summerside Golf & Country Club in Summerside, PEI and Peter Stewart, Associate Professional at The Country Club in Woodbridge, ON are the 2008 recipients of the prestigious Tex Noble Award.
The Canadian PGA’s Tex Noble Award represents the Association’s commitment to recognizing a high standard of achievement among Canadian PGA Apprentice Professionals,” stated Steve Carroll, Executive Director of the Canadian PGA. “These two individuals are very deserving co-recipients with impressive Class “A” Examination test scores of 94%.”
Tex Noble was a former Education Director with the Canadian PGA who was instrumental in the development and training of young golf professionals. The first Tex Noble award was awarded in 1992.
The Tex Noble Award is given annually to the person who earns the highest mark on the Canadian PGA Class “A” accreditation exam, the final threshold in earning the CPGA Class ‘A’ Professional designation.
As winner of the Tex Noble Award, Desjardins and Stewart receive a personalized plaque and a $500 bonus from Simmlands Insurance, supporters of the award for many years.
“Tex Noble was a great friend of ours and of the Canadian PGA and his tireless efforts in moulding the Education Program and other member benefits was an inspiration to us all,” stated John Simmonds, President of Simmlands Insurance Brokers Limited. “We are delighted to be able to offer the cash portion of the Tex Noble Award to this year's recipients, Dallas Desjardins and Peter Stewart, in memory of Tex's contribution to the Canadian PGA."
Presentation ceremonies will be held as part of the Canadian PGA, Atlantic (March 26, 2009 - Charlottetown) and Ontario (March 26, 2009 - Burlington Golf & Country Club) Zone’s Spring Meetings.
