Club de Golf Beloeil Prepares to Host the 2008 Titleist & FootJoy Canadian PGA Assistants’ Championship presented by Simmlands

ACTON, ON (September 15, 2008) – More than 130 of the country’s leading Assistant golf Professionals will convene Tuesday, September 23rd at the prestigious Club de Golf Beloeil in Beloeil, Quebec to participate in the 2008 Titleist & FootJoy Canadian PGA Assistants’ Championship presented by Simmlands Insurance. The three day championship event will take place September 23rd-September 25th, 2008 in Beloeil, Quebec, approximately 15 minutes east of Montreal.

“We are very excited to host our National championship in the beautiful setting of Beloeil, Quebec, at such an extraordinary course,” stated Stephen Carroll, Executive Director of the Canadian PGA. “The championship is sure to be a success as the Quebec zone continues to assist in hosting first rate tournaments.”

Club de Golf Beloeil has held many prestigious championships at the club over the years, such as the 1989 and 2005 Canadian Senior Amateur, the 1995 Canadian Lady Amateur and the 1998 Québec Amateur.

“I am thrilled to host this major event at our club,” says Constant Priondolo, Canadian PGA Board Member and Head Professional at Beloeil. “The course is in great shape and our crew has been working hard to prepare for this championship, so it should set up to be a challenging track for this competitive field.”

Activities will begin Monday, September 22nd with registration and practice rounds. On Tuesday, September 23rd the three day 54-hole stroke play championship will begin with the field cut to 60 plus ties after the first 36 holes.

There will be 36-hole InterZone competition compiled of four players on each team representing the nine Canadian PGA zones. The team score is calculated from the best three out of four scores accumulated over the first two rounds. The purse for the InterZone competition is $5000.

The total purse for the championship is $60,000 with the champion receiving a $9,000 first place cheque.

Tee times will be posted Wednesday, September 17th by 12 noon E.S.T
