Canadian PGA Announces SkyCaddie as Latest Partner for Women's Championship presented by NIKE Golf

ACTON, ON (August 1, 2008) – The Canadian PGA announced today that SkyCaddie, the Official Rangefinder of the Association, will be on location at the 2008 Canadian PGA Women’s Championship presented by NIKE Golf at Credit Valley Golf and Country Club, August 6th - 8th in Mississauga, ON to provide a SkyCaddie device to all competitors in the event.

“The Canadian PGA is looking forward to having SkyCaddie on site at our Women’s National Championship,” stated Steve Carroll, Executive Director for the Canadian PGA. “The SkyCaddie device appears to be speeding up pace of play in our Championships and is quickly becoming a very popular device among professional players.”

The SkyCaddie, developed by SkyGolf, is used on over 14,000 golf courses in 45 countries around the world. Weighing less than five ounces, the SkyCaddie utilizes the same global positioning system used by the U.S. military, but in a high portable handheld device, to compute distances to any point on a golf course. SkyGolf uses professional, high-performance GPS engines, satellite-based accuracy augmentation, plus proprietary accuracy enhancements to provide golfers with the information of distances needed to play smarter and faster.

SkyCaddie representatives will be at the Championship providing information on their innovative devices and lending a portable handheld device to all competitors in the Championship and to each group in the pro-am. This will be the third consecutive event that SkyCaddie has partnered with the Canadian PGA to showcase their devices at National Championships.

The two day 36-hole stroke play championship will be contested on August 6th to 8th, 2008 at Credit Valley G&CC in Mississauga, Ontario. The 21st edition of the event, which will also be open to foreign players for the first time, offers a purse of $70,000.

Along with opening the field to foreign players, the event is receiving a makeover of sorts as amateurs and professionals can be fitted and demo NIKE Golf’s innovative products before the Simmlands Insurance Pro-Am on August 6th, which will be followed by a NIKE Golf fashion show. Pro-am participants will also be eligible to win a NIKE Golf makeover.

Past champions include Lori Kane (’96,’97,’98,’99 & ’01), Nancy Harvey (’94,’95 & ’00) and Alena Sharp (’04).

First round tee times will be posted Monday, August 4th, 2008 at 3:00PM at www.cpga.com

Player confirmations and announcements will continue in the weeks leading up to the event.

The event is free for spectators to attend.
