Herb Paterson Named Canadian PGA Honourary Life Member

ACTON, ON (April 29, 2008) - The Canadian PGA would like to congratulate Herb Paterson, who was recently approved as an Honourary Life Member by the Association's National Board.

Paterson is a Canadian golf legend with few equals, not for his playing ability, but for his salesmanship. He bought out his father-in-law’s Titleist distributorship in the early 1960s. At the time, annual revenues were just a few hundred thousand dollars, but when he sold the business out to Titleist some 30 years later, they were netting over $35 million.

Paterson also had the sales rights to Alaska, Hawaii, Fiji, Guam, Samoa and New Zealand. In his long career he traveled millions of miles, visited thousands of pro shops and got to know hundreds of Canadian PGA golf professionals.

From his long involvement with Acushnet Canada and other businesses to more recent times when he and his family developed Predator Ridge Golf Resort, Herb has been a powerful force for the game of golf in Canada.

"Herb is an icon in the Canadian golf industry and it gives us great pleasure to announce his name as an Honourary Life Member with the likes of Arnold Palmer, Dave Mayes and Marlene Stewart-Streit," says Canadian PGA President Lindon Garron, "Herb has touched the lives of many Canadian PGA Members and we look forward to many more years of his involvement."

This is one of the highest honours the Canadian PGA can bestow upon any Member and we are delighted to honour him with this distinction.

The Canadian PGA would like to once again congratulate Herb on being named Honourary Life Member.
