The Canadian PGA Announces New Weekly Blog with CPGA Member Mike Mezei

ACTON, ON (April 8, 2008) - The Canadian PGA is pleased to announce that Mike Mezei of the Canadian Tour will be featured on the Association’s National website as he writes a weekly blog detailing his experiences traveling on Tour.

“I’m thrilled to be writing a weekly blog for the Canadian PGA website,” states Mezei, the 2007 Canadian Tour Free Press Manitoba Classic Champion. “I’m hoping 2008 will be another huge stepping stone for my career and I look forward to sharing some of the stories and insight that accompany it.”

Mezei had an outstanding junior career, winning the Canadian Junior Championship in 2000 and in the same season was named as SCORE Golf’s Canadian Junior Player of the Year. Mezei was ranked number one on the RCGA Order of Merit in 2002, the same year that he was runner-up at the Canadian Amateur. The following season he won the Alberta Amateur Championship.

“Mike has achieved success at every level that he has played – junior, amateur, college and now the professional level,” said Jeff Dykeman, Manager of Business Development for the Canadian PGA. “There is no doubt that Mike is ready for the next step of his career and now we can all go along for the ride by reading his blog.”

As a professional, Mezei has continued to turn heads in Canada. He turned professional in 2005, less than a month after representing Canada at the Four Nations Cup. Although he played in just five events in his rookie season on Tour, he made three cuts and was able to retain full playing privileges for 2006.

Mezei, a Canadian PGA Member in the Tournament Player Division, has played in three CPGA Championships making the cut twice. His best finish came in the 2005 event where he finished tied for 33rd.

Mezei broke through on the Canadian Tour in 2007, winning the Free Press Manitoba Classic and finishing in the top ten twice. Mezei’s strong play was enough to place him 12th on the Canadian Tour Order of Merit.

The first stop on the Canadian Tour this season is The Spring International Presented by Foster Farms Dairy beginning April 7th, 2008 at Del Rio Country Club in Modesto, California.

Watch for Mezei’s first blog appearing on the Canadian PGA website www.cpga.com after this week’s opening event on the Canadian Tour.
