ACTON, ON (September 10, 2007) – Val des Lacs Club de Golf in Ste. Sophie, Quebec is preparing to showcase their facility and host the 2007 Titleist & FootJoy Canadian PGA Assistants’ Championship presented by Simmlands Insurance. The event will take place from September 24th-September 26th, 2007.

“We are excited to have the tournament in the beautiful setting of Ste. Sophie Quebec, at such an extraordinary course,” stated Stephen Carroll, Executive Director of the Canadian PGA. “The championship is sure to be a success as the Quebec zone continues to assist in hosting first rate tournaments.”

Val des Lacs was built and designed by architect Howard Watson in 1959. He designed many courses in the Montreal and Toronto region, like Lachute Golf Club (past host of the Canadian Open) in Montreal and the Board of Trade in Toronto.

“I am thrilled to host this major event,” says Patrick Loiselle Director of Golf at Val des Lacs, formally named Cedarbook. “At first glance, the course may not look complex, but it is very deceiving, over the past few years, we have completed some work on the course, like drainage and tree trimming and currently the rough is long and thick and the greens are rolling between nine and ten on the stemp meter, so it should set up to be challenging.”

Activities will begin Sunday, September 23rd with registration and practice rounds. On Monday, September 24th the three day 54-hole stroke play championship will begin with the field cut to 70 plus ties after the first 36 holes.

There will be 36-hole InterZone competition compiled of four players on each team representing the nine Canadian PGA zones. The team score is calculated from the best three out of four scores accumulated over the first two rounds. The purse for the InterZone competition is $5000.

The total purse for the championship is $45,000 and the champion will receive exemption into the 2007 PGA Assistant Professional Championship in Port St. Lucie, Fla along with the $6,500 first place cheque.
