ROD SPITTLE NAMED AS 2016 HYUNDAI PGA SCRAMBLE AMBASSADOR

The Hyundai PGA Scramble of Canada has forged a partnership with one of Canada’s most well respected golfer’s.

PGA Tour Champions player Rod Spittle will be the event’s official ambassador for 2016 and as part of the partnership; Spittle will wear the Hyundai PGA Scramble logo on his hat for the duration of the PGA Tour Champions season. The 60-year-old Niagara native will also be on-site for the entire week at the Hyundai PGA Scramble of Canada national final held at Lookout Point Country Club in Fonthill, Ont., Sept. 29-Oct. 1.

“I was thrilled to be asked to be involved with the Hyundai PGA Scramble and to have the final at Lookout Point Country Club and near my hometown makes it that much more special for me,” Spittle said. “I think the concept Hyundai Canada and the PGA of Canada have come up with is a fantastic way for the every-day golfer to play some amazing golf courses in a format that’s both fun and competitive for everyone.”

The Hyundai PGA Scramble of Canada is a new national series of events taking place across the country beginning this June.

The series of events expects to draw over 15,000 amateur golfers—who will form their own team of four players— from across the country. Teams will look to make it through local and regional qualifying with the ultimate goal of playing in the national final this fall at Lookout Point Country Club, with a PGA of Canada professional playing on their team.

“Anyone who has met Rod knows he is one of the finest gentlemen in professional golf,” said PGA of Canada CEO Gary Bernard. “The golfers who make it to the Hyundai PGA Scramble of Canada national final will enjoy every second of interacting with Rod and seeing him hit a few shots that week as well.”

Spittle, who won the 2010 AT&T Championships on the PGA Tour Champions, is a long-time member of Lookout Point Country Club and says he looks forward to returning home to Fonthill for the national final.

In addition to the 36-hole championship, the Hyundai PGA Scramble of Canada national final promises to be a golf trip of a lifetime, which includes a festival of special events, prizing, activations and a chance to interact with the latest Hyundai vehicles.

Each golfer who plays in a Hyundai PGA Scramble of Canada local event will receive over $1,500 in impressive gifting and prizing from supporting partners. They include:

  • An exclusive offer of up to $1,000 in price adjustments on select Hyundai Models for every participant who plays in a local event
  • An exclusive offer from Michelin tires for every participant who plays in a local event
  • An exclusive offer from the Hilton hotel group for every participant who plays in a local event
