Pair of PGA Members to be Inducted

A pair of longtime PGA of Canada members will enter into the Saskatchewan Golf Hall of Fame at the end of the month.

John Gaudet and Stan Homenuik will be inducted on Sept. 26th at a ceremony at the Riverside Country Club in Saskatoon.

“On behalf of the PGA of Canada and the association’s 3,700 members from across the country, I sincerely congratulate both John Gaudet and Stan Homenuik on their induction into the Saskatchewan Golf Hall of Fame,” said PGA of Canada president Constant Priondolo. “It’s golf professionals like John and Stan who personify what it means to be proud PGA of Canada members, selflessly serving as a dedicated ambassadors for the game of golf in Canada.”

A PGA of Canada member since 1965, Gaudet enters the hall in the Distinguished Service category. The New Minas, N.S., native has been PGA of Canada Master Professional since 2012 and has a long and storied past as a member of the association.

Gaudet worked in the Atlantic Zone until 1993 before transferring to the Saskatchewan Zone. In 1990 he was named Club Professional of the year in the Atlantic Zone, and 14 years later in 2004 he was named Club Professional of the Year for the Saskatchewan Zone. He served 11 years on the board of directors of the Atlantic Zone and became President in 1992. In 2006 Nike Canada named him Club Fitter of the Year, while in 2009 he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Saskatchewan Zone. In both 2010 and 2011 he won back-to-back Teacher of the Year awards for the Saskatchewan Zone.

A Life Professional with the PGA of Canada, Homenuik joined the association in 1962 and enters the Saskatchewan Golf Hall of Fame through the Players category. Homeniuk played in the PGA Championship of Canada from 1969-1977 and was the PGA of Manitoba Player of the Year in 1985. Homenuik is also a member of the Manitoba Golf Hall of Fame and joins his brother Wilf as a member of both the Manitoba and Saskatchewan Golf Hall of Fame.
