Callaway Golf Canada becomes presenting sponsor of PGA Assistants’ Championship of Canada

The PGA Assistants’ Championship of Canada has a new presenting sponsor in Callaway Golf Canada.

The multi-year agreement sees the nearly 35-year old company become presenting sponsor of the assistants' championship, as well as a continued supporter of the PGA of Canada’s magazine, PRO:FILES.

“The PGA of Canada is pleased to enter into a national partnership with Callaway Golf Canada,” said PGA of Canada CEO Gary Bernard. “Our PGA Assistants' Championship is one of our most competitive fields every year and we are thrilled Callaway Golf Canada has come on board to support it.”

Through an unwavering commitment to innovation, Callaway Golf Canada creates products designed to make every golfer a better golfer. Callaway Golf Canada manufactures and sells golf clubs and golf balls, and sells golf accessories, under the Callaway Golf and Odyssey brands worldwide.

“Callaway Golf Canada is very excited to enter this national sponsorship in partnership with the PGA of Canada," said Callaway Golf Canada General Manager, Bruce Carroll. We feel this is another step in strengthening our commitment to the PGA of Canada Professional for supporting our brand.”

This year’s PGA Assistants’ Championship of Canada presented by Callaway Golf Canada is headed to the nation’s capital. Located in Cumberland, Ont., just 15 minutes from downtown Ottawa, Camelot Golf and Country Club, will test some of the country’s finest golfers Sept. 8-11.

Contested over 54-holes (with a 36-hole cut to the low 60-players and ties), some of the country’s best golfers will compete for $60,000 purse.

There will also be a 36-hole Inter-Zone competition compiled of four players on each team representing their respective PGA Zone and is contested over the first two rounds.

Brian McCann made a dramatic 12-foot par putt on the final hole to win last year’s PGA Assistants’ Championship of Canada. The 39-year-old from Mississauga, Ont., shot a three-day total of 6-under-par 210 for the one-stroke victory over G.W. King of Thornbury, Ont., and Mississauga, Ont.’s, Nick Kenney.

In addition to McCann, past champions of the PGA Assistants' Championship of Canada include Serge Thivierge, Remi Bouchard, Marc Girouard, Bryn Parry, Ashley Chinner, Phil Jonas, Bill Walsh and Mike Belbin.
