The PGA of Canada Remembers

The PGA of Canada is deeply saddened by the passing of Honorary Life Member, Herb Paterson

An Honourary Member of the PGA of Canada, Paterson passed away at the North Shore Hospice Society in North Vancouver on Feb. 24, only days after celebrating his 90th Birthday.

Paterson is a Canadian golf legend with few equals, not for his playing ability, but for his salesmanship. He bought out his father-in-law’s Titleist distributorship in the early 1960s. At the time, annual revenues were just a few hundred thousand dollars, but when he sold the business out to Titleist some 30 years later, they were netting over $35 million.

From his long involvement with Acushnet Canada and other businesses to more recent times when he and his family developed Predator Ridge Golf Resort, Patterson has been a powerful force for the game of golf in Canada.

A celebration of Life for Mr. Paterson is currently in the planning stages and will likely take place in the Lower Mainland. Once details become available, the association will pass along the information.
