Canadian PGA Names Erica Bury as Communications Coordinator

ACTON, ON (June 13, 2007) - Communications experience in the television broadcast industry combined with knowledge of the golf industry and formal education in kinesiology and journalism will serve Erica Bury well as she begins her new duties as Canadian PGA Communications Coordinator.

“I am thrilled to be a part of such a great National Association, and am excited at the opportunity to help develop and implement strategies to ensure two-way communication between the Canadian PGA and the rest of the Canadian golfing community” says Bury who previously worked at The Score Television Network as an assignment desk editor and freelance producer since 2005.

She has a degree focusing in Physical and Health Education from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario and a degree in the post graduate Journalism program from Ryerson University in Toronto. Erica’s knowledge of the golf industry stemmed from working on the maintenance and grounds crew at Weston Golf Club as well as Oakdale Golf and Country Club and in guest services at Horseshoe Valley Golf Course, all in the greater Toronto area. Since then, she has exercised her interest in golf through the development of feature television broadcast stories that have aired on national television profiling professional golfers, and innovative golf technology.

“The Canadian PGA Board and Staff are very pleased and excited about bringing an experienced and talented communications specialist on board to handle day to day communications duties for the Association” said Steve Carroll, Canadian PGA Executive Director. “Erica’s enthusiasm and energy will be a very positive boost for the Canadian PGA’s efforts to wave the flag for its members.”

Major areas of focus for Erica Bury include website feature story content management, writing for Canadian PGA e-bulletins, creating “The Leader” electronic newsletter and documents to support business development as well as developing contacts and coordinating communications efforts with zone staff and golf media across the country. Erica will also be working very closely with the company chosen to provide integrated communications and marketing expertise for the Association.
