Words from the Education Wing—Yoga For Golfers

Words from the Education Wing—Yoga For Golfers

By Matt Allen

With the weather officially turning ugly across most of the country, many of us begin to slide into an idle state.

The cold mornings and dark nights are good enough reasons in my eyes to stay away from the gym and forget about taking good physical care of ourselves. But before we know it the warm weather will return, but inevitably we’ll wonder why we’re sore with all kinds of body aches and pains.

This past week the PGA of Canada’s education department launched its third wave of Yoga for Golfers webinar with Katherine Roberts. Roberts has provided the membership resources completely free resources—ranging from jump-starting your season, training for peak performance during the busy summer season, to this week’s feature on optimizing off-season training.

The feedback about Roberts’ Yoga for Golfers webinars and training the education department has received from PGA members this week has been outstanding. She’s a great asset to the PGA of Canada and has made herself available to help any member who is interested in integrating yoga poses into his or her own workout routine.

Each of the Yoga for Golfers sessions this year has include take-home PDFs, instructional videos and an interactive webinar—all of which are still available for you at any time HERE.

So, take 10 minutes out of your day over the winter and work on some of the poses and resources Katherine has shared for us. I’m confident when the springtime arrives we won’t be talking about the aches and pains anymore. And don’t be afraid to share with your own students as well!
