Canadian World Amateur Teams Named

Golf Canada is pleased to announce the six individuals selected to represent Canada at the 2014 World Amateur Team Championship, conducted by the International Golf Federation. The championships – features both a women’s (Sept 3rd-6th) and men’s (10th-13th) competition which will take place in Karuizawa, Japan from September 3 – 13, 2014.

Representing Canada on the women’s team is Brooke Henderson, 16, of Smiths Falls, Ont., Augusta James, 21, of Bath, Ont., and Brittany Marchand, 21, of Orangeville, Ont. The trio will vie for the Espirito Santo Trophy at the Kurizawa Prince Hotel Resort’s Oshitate Course and Iriyama Course.

The men’s team selected to represent Canada consists of Corey Conners, 22, of Listowel, Ont., Taylor Pendrith, 23, of Richmond Hill, Ont., and Adam Svensson, 20, of Surrey, B.C. Also contested on both the Oshitate Course and Iriyama Course at Kurizawa Prince Hotel Resort, the men will vie for the Eisenhower Trophy.

PGA of Canada members Derek Ingram and Tristan Mullally will represent Team Canada as coaches.

A two-time recipient of the PGA of Canada’s Teacher of the Year Award (2003 & 2007), Ingram spent two years as Women’s Head Coach for Team Canada.

Prior to being named Women’s Head Coach at the end of 2009, Ingram served five years as Men’s Assistant Coach for Team Canada.

A seven-time winner of the Manitoba PGA Teacher of the Year Award, Ingram has been involved with Golf Canada’s High Performance Program for the past 11 years.Ingram has been selected as one of the top-10 coaches in Canada by the National Post, Golf Digest and Golf Magazine, and a Top-50 Teacher in North America by Golf Range Magazine.

He also competed on the Canadian Tour for two years and was twice named Manitoba PGA Player of the Year Award (2003 & 2008).

A recent inductee into the Manitoba Golf Hall of Fame, Ingram has also co-authored two books on improving golf mental skills.

A native of Straffan, Co. Kildare, Mullally Joined Golf Canada as Head Women’s Coach in 2011.

Mullally has been coach to a number of Irish Touring Professionals and elite level Amateurs including 2010 US Open champion Graeme McDowell and Curtis Cup Players the Maguire twins. Working for the Irish Ladies Golf Union from 2007-2011 he was also the Head coach for the Paddy Harrington Golf scholarship Program at Maynooth University.

A student of the game and former competitor on the Irish and Swedish Professional Tours he also served as a club professional at many world class resorts including Royal Portrush Golf Club, The Champions Club Moyvalley and Vassunda Golf Club.
