Debunking the myth

Debunking the myth

Golf Canada’s Manager of Youth Development Ted Logan says the biggest myth he hears on a regular basis about CN Future Link’s is that entering participants into the database is too time consuming. This simply isn’t the case, he says.

“Without a doubt, the biggest fallacy about CN Future Links is that it takes too long to enter participants into the national database,” Logan says. “Using the website’s bulk uploader, it only takes about 10 minutes to enter 20 new participants . . . and once they’re entered, they’re entered into the database for good.”

Adam Boge, PGA of Canada Head Professional at The Meadows at East St. Paul Golf Course in Manitoba, agrees with Logan, saying the bulk uploader not only saves you time, but keeps your CN Future Links program better organized.

“Uploading new participants into the CN Future Links website is really quick and easy,” says the 14-year PGA of Canada member. “At our golf course we have our CN Future Links registration online, so you can ask for all the information you want and then you can export it into an excel sheet when you are ready, which makes uploading that much easier and faster.”

Once participants are in the database, Logan says CN Future instructors will continue to not only keep saving time, but also reap the rewards of being more organized.

“Lets look at this for a second: on average, it takes less than 30 minutes for an instructor to add 20 kids to their database, pass them through Level 1 of the Learn to Play program and submit their Junior Skills challenge scores,” he says. “Is it worth spending 30 minutes over the course of the entire season at a computer to input this data? Yes. Is it worth keeping parents informed of their child’s progression through golf lessons with the report card system? Yes. It is worth giving them a chance to participate alongside LPGA Tour stars at the Junior Skills National event? Yes.”

Ontario’s Bradlee Ryall of The Academy at Braeben/Bradlee Ryall Golf, sees other real benefits to jumping on the CN Future Links bandwagon and thinks PGA of Canada members should

“PGA of Canada members should get on board because its a recognizable brand for junior golf in Canada,” Ryall says. “It’s an incredible tool allowing junior golfers to grow, be evaluated and have fun while learning the game of golf,” he says, adding, “it’s not only a great coaching tool, but also and effective business one.”
