Patriot Golf Day Canada Returns

Patriot Golf Day Canada Returns

For the second straight year Patriot Golf Day Canada will take place across the country this summer.

Kicking off at the PGA Championship of Canada on June 24 and running through the close of the RBC Canadian Open on July 28, the grassroots golf initiative once again supports and honours Canadian military members and their family.

“The PGA of Canada is extremely proud to yet again be partnering with our friends at Golf Canada and the True Patriot Love Foundation for this year’s Patriot Golf Day Canada,” says PGA of Canada CEO, Gary Bernard. “This year’s events will kick off at the PGA Championship of Canada and take place across Canada for the entire month of July,” he says, adding, “there’s no doubt in my mind PGA of Canada members will once again get behind this wonderful initiative.”

Hopes are to have 50 golf facilities across the country take part, raising more than $50,000 for the True Patriot Love Foundation.

“For the second year in a row, golfers and golf facilities all over Canada will take up the mission of supporting military members and their families,” True Patriot Love Foundation Vice Chair, Michael Burns. “Funds raised will go towards the Military Family Resource Centres, located on Canadian Forces Bases across the country. These centres work hard to support the needs of military spouses and families in their local communities.”

Over the past three years, True Patriot Love have raised more than $14-million to fund a variety of military programs, charities and causes, when and where it is needed most.

Golf Canada CEO, Scott Simmons says his organization is once again happy to get behind initiative.

“Golf Canada is proud to once again support Patriot Golf Day and we are honoured to have the month long awareness program culminate during Canada’s National Open Golf Championship at Glen Abbey Golf Club,” he says. “It’s my hope that Canadian golfers and clubs across the county will extend their participation and generosity to this important initiative.”

Golfers who play at participating Patriot Golf Day facilities across the country can donate any dollar amount to the initiative. Canadians will also have the opportunity to give directly to the initiative through a secure online donation website.
