Carrie Vaughan Talks CDC

The PGA of Canada recently held its Coach of Developing (CDC) Workshop in Port St. Lucie, Fla. It is the second context of the PGA of Canada’s Teaching and Coaching Certification Program’s (TCCP) Competition Stream, along with Coach of New Competitors (CNC), and Coach of High Performers (CHP), and aligns with athletes in ‘Train to Compete” and ‘Train to Excel’ of the Long Term Player Development (LTPD) Guide to Golf in Canada.

At the CDC workshop, participants focused on six main learning outcomes : Developing Athletic Abilities; Analyze Technical and Tactical Performance; Performance Planning; Planning a Practice 2; Make Ethical Decisions; and Psychology of Performance.

This training is the only golf coaching certification program recognized by leading sport organizations like Sport Canada and the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC), and has generated interest from PGA’s and golf associations around the world.

Carrie Vaughan of the Golf Performance Academy at Whistle Bear Golf Club in Waterloo, Ont., spoke with PGA TV about why she believes it’s important for coaches to keep learning, the hands-on approach to education, being a female in the golf coaching industry and much more.
