Anticipation Builds for Canada Night

Anticipation is building as Canada Night and the PGA of Canada National Awards quickly approaches. 

For the first time in the Association’s history, its national award winners will be honoured at the largest gathering of the Canadian golf industry Jan., 25 at Canada Night as part of the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Fla.

“I’m really looking forward to celebrating not just golf in Canada, but the PGA of Canada’s National Award winners next Friday at Canada Night,” says PGA of Canada President, Gregg Schubert. “There’s going to be a buzz in the room with a packed house of PGA of Canada professionals, members of the Canadian golf media, PGA of Canada sponsors and partners, and other friends of our Association who want to come out and celebrate.” 

More than 300 guests are expected to be on hand at Canada Night, celebrating golf in Canada and the PGA of Canada National Awards winners—Eric Laporte, Mike Weir Player of the Year; Shaun Piercey, Pat Fletcher Retailer of the Year; Andrew Steep, Moe Norman Apprentice of the Year; Cam Martens, George Knudson Teacher of the Year; Doug Lawrie, Jack McLaughlin Junior Leader of the Year; Jon Roy, Ben Kern Coach of the Year; Trevor Goplin, Murray Tucker Golf Professional of the Year; Mike Kelly, Tex Noble Award for Professional Development; and Lorne Rubenstein, George Cumming Distinguished Service Award.

“Next Friday evening is all about the Canadian golf industry coming together, socializing and celebrating,” says the PGA of Canada’s Managing Director of Championships and Events, Adam LeBrun. “We’ve got a few special things lined up for everyone in attendance and it promises to be an event worth attending.” 

Canada Night takes place in Orlando, Fla., on Jan., 25, 2013 at the PGA Merchandise Show (Orange County Convention Centre) at 5:30 p.m. in room 304 C/D.
