Adam Boge’s National Board Experience

Adam Boge’s National Board Experience

Earlier this year Adam Boge received an email that changed both his personal and professional life. The email didn’t come from an individual in Africa claiming to have millions of dollars for him, nor did it come from a supposed headhunter representing a Fortune 500 company.

The email came from a much more reputable source; the PGA of Canada.

“Around this time last year I got an email from the PGA of Canada asking members to consider representing their zone and running for a National Board of Director seat,” Boge says. “After a little bit of initial hesitation, I threw my hat in the ring as it were, and began the election process for the Manitoba Zone National Board of Directors’ member.”

The Meadows at East St. Paul head professional put together candidate application form and began the process of becoming a National Board of Director. He says his experiences preparing both his application and his online profile—which included his bio information, videos, blogs and other relevant information pertaining to his campaign—were pain free.

“Putting together my candidate application form and preparing my profile on the Association’s website was actually pretty easy,” Boge says. “I had a few questions, but they were easily and quickly answered by the national office staff.”

Once it was determined Boge had won his seat to represent the Manitoba Zone on the National Board, he was immediately sent congratulatory notes from current members of the National Board, as well as staff of the national office. He also says he became part of the process right away as well.

“The board orientation was absolutely informative and helpful with how everything was laid out,” Boge says. “Not long after the orientation I was part of the Annual General Meeting in North Bay, Ont., and I thought, ‘wow, this is amazing that I’m already a part of decision making process.’”

In the weeks and months Boge has sat on the board, he had a chance to meet a great number of people in the business and says he continues to learn more about the business and about people with every passing conference call or board meeting.

“The board meetings are pretty intense, but I’ve learned so much from them it’s just unreal,” Boge admits. “Everyone brings something a little different to the National Board, so there’s a vast amount of knowledge that’s shared and I can’t say it enough, but I’m so happy to have become a member.”

Next April, eligible PGA of Canada Class “A” in the Alberta, Ontario and Quebec Zones will have an opportunity to stand for election as a PGA of Canada National Board of Director.
