Special Event to Kick Off Patriot Golf Day

A number of special guests from the Canadian military, the PGA of Canada and Members of Federal and Provincial Parliaments will be on hand this coming Friday morning for a special event in North Bay, Ont., to officially kick off Patriot Golf Day Canada. 

General André Deschamps, Commander of the Royal Canadian Air Force joins PGA of Canada CEO, Gary Bernard for a round of golf Friday morning at North Bay Golf & Country Club, kicking off the first ever Patriot Golf Day Canada.

"I am very grateful for the support of the Professional Golfers’ Association of Canada in making today's Patriot Golf Day a reality," said Lieutenant-General André Deschamps, Commander of the Royal Canadian Air Force. "This inspired initiative shows that Canadians care about Canadian Forces members and their families.”

Money raised from Patriot Golf Day events all across Canada this Labour Day weekend will go to the True Patriot Love Foundation, which supports and honours members of the Canadian military and their families.

PGA of Canada CEO, Gary Bernard says he’s honoured and excited to be kicking off Patriot Golf Day Canada in the company of Lieutenant-General Deschamps.

“It’s an unbelievable honour to have the Commander of the Royal Canadian Air Force help kick off Patriot Golf Day Canada,” Bernard says. “His presence and support at this special event says a great deal about the importance of Patriot Golf Day Canada.”

A press conference featuring Lieutenant-General Deschamps and Bernard; as well as Jay Aspin, MP for Nippissing-Timiskaming; Victor Fedeli, MPP for Nippissing; North Bay Mayor, Al McDonald; past PGA of Canada President (and North Bay, Ont., native), Glenn Cundari; a number of Honourary Colonels and numerous Royal Canadian Air Force members from 22nd Wing—North Bay takes place at 8:45 a.m. Friday at North Bay Golf & Country Club.
