National award winners honoured

The PGA of Canada honoured seven national award winners and a Canadian golf legend Thursday night in Ancaster Ont., as part of RBC Canadian Open Week.

Adam Werbicki (Jack McLaughlin Junior Leader of the Year), The Derrick Golf & Winter Club, Edmonton; Dallas Desjardins (Murray Tucker Golf Professional of the Year, Summerside Golf & Country Club, Summerside, P.E.I.; Dean Ingalls (Pat Fletcher Retailer of the Year), Pinebrook Golf Country Club, Calgary; Paul Horton (George Knudson Teacher of the Year), Heritage Pointe Golf Academy, Dewinton, Alta.; Brian Dagg (Moe Norman Apprentice of the Year), Pine Ridge Golf & Country Club, Winnipeg; Brian McCann (Mike Weir Player of the Year), The Academy at BraeBen, Mississauga, Ont.; Ian Webb (Tex Noble Award for Professional Development, Credit Valley Golf & Country Club, Mississauga, Ont.; and Dick Grimm (George Cumming Distinguished Service Award), Honourary Life Member were all honoured as part of the PGA of Canada’s 2011 National Awards evening.

“The seven PGA of Canada golf professionals who received awards this evening are truly deserving and on behalf of all the 3,800 members of our Association, I sincerely congratulate them for their exceptional and dedicated service to golf in this country,” says PGA of Canada President, Gregg Schubert. “And, as for Dick Grimm, he’s a true legend in this sportwith his years-upon-years of experience in Canadian golf.”

Each year, a National Selection committee evaluates nominations from more than 3,800 PGA of Canada members from coast-to-coast and recognizes winners in each of the categories.
