Eight players punched their tickets to the quarterfinal matches of the PGA Championship of Canada sponsored Mr. Lube and presented by TaylorMade-adidas Golf Thursday morning at Country Hills’ Talons Course. 

Conditions were ideal for scoring Thursday morning in Calgary and players took full advantage.

In the Stan Leonard bracket, Eddward Boudreau (Gorge Vale Golf Club) won 1-up over John McCann (Fairtree Golf Centre), while Conor O’Shea (The Academy at Piper’s Heath) was a 3&1 winner over Ron Kenesky (Hidden Lake Golf Club). Boudreau and O’Shea will square off at 1:50 p.m. in their quarterfinal match.

In the Al Balding bracket, Lindsay Bernakevitch (Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club) won his match 3&2 over Dean North (Royal Regina Golf Club), while Dave Levesque (La Prairie du Golf) was a 4&2 winner over Kevin Black (Seven Hills Golf & Country Club). Levesque and Bernakevitch meet at 1:30 in their quarterfinal match.

Action in the George Knudson bracket saw Eric Laporte (Club de Golf Montcalm) best Roger Beale (Royal Westmoreland) 3&2, and Mike Belbin (Royal Mayfair Golf Club) win 6&5 over Billy Walsh (Fairtree Golf Centre). Belbin and Laporte meet at 2 p.m. for their quarter final match.

Over in the Moe Norman bracket, Phil Jonas (Hazelmere Golf & Tennis Club) was a 3&2 winner over Bruce Rogerson (Brantford Golf & Country Club), while Brad Clapp (Chilliwack Golf & Country Club) won his match over Bryn Parry on the 22nd hole. Clapp and Jonas meet at 1:40.

The four winners from Thursday’s quarterfinals advance to Friday morning semifinal matches.
