Schubert, Priondolo and Wood new PGA of Canada Officers

Gregg Schubert of Calgary recently became the 44th President of the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) of Canada. 

Schubert, who is in his ninth year as head professional at Cottonwood Golf & Country Club in Calgary, previously served on the National Board from 2008-2012 and as Vice President from 2010-2012.

The 20-year PGA of Canada member succeeds Glenn Cundari of North Bay, Ont., who will serve on the Association’s Board of Directors as Past President. Succeeding Schubert as Vice President is Constant Priondolo of Montreal, who spent the past two years as Secretary. Winnipeg’s Steve Wood becomes the new Secretary, while Adam Boge of Winnipeg and Dale Pedersen of Kingston, Ont., were sworn in as newly electedNational Board of Director representatives.

Schubert joined the PGA of Canada as a 20-year old in 1992 and became a Class ‘A’ member in 1996.

Born in Calgary and raised in Sherwood Park, Alta., Schubert graduated from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in 1993 with a diploma in Business Management.

He was twice named PGA of Alberta Assistant of the Year (1996 and 1998), and nominated for the PGA of Alberta Club Professional of the Year in 2008 and 2009.

Schubert sat on the PGA of Alberta’s Board of Directors for 10 years before serving on the National Board in 2008. He has chaired the National Committee of Employment and has sat on the Association’s Finance Committee.

As a competitive player, Schubert won an event during the 2005 season of the PGA of Alberta Head Professional Tour, and captured the 2009 PGA of Alberta Pro-Assistant’s Championship.

Priondolo, the Association’s new Vice President, has sat on the PGA of Canada’s Board of Directors since 2004, chairing both the Business Development and Membership Committees over the past eight years.

Named the PGA of Quebec Merchandiser of the Year in 2010, he has been the head professional at La Vallee du Richelieu since 2009. Priondolo has also served as President of the PGA of Quebec in 2002 and 2003.

Before becoming a PGA of Canada professional in 1992, Priondolo played 11 seasons in the Italian Hockey League, saw action in six World Ice Hockey Championships and the was a member of the Italian Men’s Ice Hockey Team at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo.

New PGA of Canada Secretary, Wood is the general manager and executive professional at Bel Acres Golf & Country Club in Winnipeg. He became a PGA of Canada member in 1994; served on the PGA of Manitoba Board of Directors since 2001 and has been a National Board of Director since 2008. Wood has been nominated for the PGA of Manitoba Head Professional of the Year in 2009-’12.

Wood has been a member of the Manitoba Titleist Cup Team eight times—2000, ’02-’04, ’06-’08 and ’10.

The PGA of Canada Board of Directors is comprised of the Association’s president, vice president, secretary, past president and nine zone representatives.
