The PGA Remembers . . .

Whibley, the head golf professional at the former Cutten Club (now Cutten Fields) for 34 years, died Friday in Guelph, Ont. He was 81.

Previous to his tenure at the Cutten Club, Whibley worked as an assistant at the Board of Trade (now the Country Club) in Woodbridge, Ont.; Rosedale in Toronto; and Sunningdale in London, Ont.

He is survived by wife, Irene (Ford/Owen) Whibley; daughters, Helen Oates-Kerr (Robert) and Cindy Clayton (Bruce); grandchildren, Laurie Checkley, Christopher Oates, Joel Dollery, Brianne Dollery, Andrew Kerr and Robbie Kerr; great-grandchildren Cassandra, Cameron, Jake and Talan. He is fondly remembered by his sisters, Donna Whibley, Patricia Meitz, June Wing of Timmins and Rose Whibley ;and by his brothers Murray of and James Whibley. Predeceased by his daughter, Norma Owen, his sister, Mary Wing and brothers Frank and Bill Whibley.

Visitation takes place Monday, January 9 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Gilchrist Chapel in the McIntyre and Wilkie Funeral Home.

Whibley’s service will take place at the Cutten Fields on Tuesday January 10th at 1:30 p.m. Reception to follow. Interment Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions to the ARC Industries, Canadian Cancer Society, War Amps or the Masai Centre would be appreciated.
