The PGA of Canada is deeply saddened by the passing of Sandy Robertson.

The PGA Life Member passed away at the age of 78 on Dec. 11, 2011 with his loving wife Marilyn by his side.

Sandy joined the Association in 1958, first as an Assistant Professional at Royal Mayfair Golf & Country Club. In 1962, he became the Head Professional at Riverside Golf Course and remained in the position for 18 years. Sandy then moved over to Glendale Golf & Country Club as Head Professional for another 16 years.

He was a two-time winner of the Alberta Assistants’ Championship; was the first ever President of the Alberta Zone; and represented Alberta on the National Education Committee.

In 2003, Sandy was unanimously selected by the PGA of Alberta Board of Directors as the inaugural recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in the Association Builder Category.

Sandy is survived by his wife of 34 years, Marilyn; two sons: Peter and Neil; daughter Gail and their families; Camille, Lynn, Debbie and Madison; three grandchildren: Tristan, Josh, Sean; sister-in-law, Dianne (Dennis) Hambleton and their children: Darren, Jason, Cory and Brad and last but not least "Buddy.”

A Memorial Service will be announced in early spring.

The family would like to thank Dr. Brahim and the staff at Villa Caritas for their kindness and the care they gave to Sandy.
