(ACTON, ON) AUGUST 10, 2011: PGA of Canada and LPGA member and past tournament champion Lorie Kane is gearing up to compete in the PGA Women’s Championship of Canada presented by Nike Golf, one of the oldest and most prestigious events in women’s golf. The championship will celebrate 25 years this year and will be contested at Bayview Golf and Country Club, in Thornhill, ON August 30th to September 1st.

Kane, a past champion of the PGA Women’s Championship of Canada presented by Nike Golf, has won the championship a record five-times, including four consecutive years (96,97,98,99 and 01). Her 1997 win was at Bayview Golf and Country Club.

"I'm very excited to be playing in the 25th PGA Women's Championship of Canada presented by Nike Golf, and returning to play at Bayview Golf and Country Club where I won this event in 1997”, said Kane of Charlottetown, PEI. “I am also very happy to join the PGA of Canada in celebrating their centennial year”, added Kane.

Kane is a sixteen-year veteran on the LPGA Tour. She is a four-time winner earning more than $6.8 million. She is currently 81st on the LPGA official money list. In 2000, Kane broke into the winner’s circle with a victory at the Michelob Light Classic; won again at the New Albany Golf Classic, then captured her third title at the Mizuno Women’s Open. Kane’s fourth career win was the LPGA Takefuji Classic in 2001.

With the deadline extended to August 19, the field is expected to continue to grow as many top women golfers from Canada and around the world are expected to compete for the $70,000 purse.
