Nine Canadian PGA Members Receive Awards

The 2011 Investors Group Volunteer Sport Administrator Awards were handed out recently to 9 Canadian PGA CN Future Links instructors across the country.

Investors Group, in partnership with the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC), honoured the award winners at various provincial Community Coaching Conferences over the past few months.

The Canadian PGA CN Future Links instructors who were honoured are: Colin Lavers, Seymour Golf & Country Club; Wayne Fairbairn, Calgary Elks Lodge & Golf Club; Adam Boge, The Meadows at East St. Paul Golf Course; Gary Bos, Gary Bos Golf Academy; Greg Gagne, Academie de Golf Fred Colgan; Sean Joyce, The Marshes Golf Club; Adam Chamberlain, Gowan Brae Golf & Country Club; Kevin Champion, Green Gables Golf Club; and Trevor MacPherson, The Links at Montague.

Each of the winners are eligible to win the National Sport Administrator Award which is given out annually at the Sports Leadership Awards Dinner.

Throughout the winter and spring months, 379 participants attended one of 10 Community Coaching Conferences run by Golf Canada, the Canadian PGA and provincial golf associations designed around the CN Future Links program.

And while the aim of these coaching conferences was to mainly highlight the numerous benefits of the CN Future Links program — which has engaged nearly one-million young Canadians in the game of golf since 1996 — they were also meant to inspire those in attendance to become or continue to be an active participant in the CAC’s National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP).

The NCCP is a coach training and certification program for 67 different sports and is offered in both French and English. The initiative allows members of the Canadian PGA to identify themselves as having a certified level of expertise in the field of instruction and coaching in golf.
