PGA of BC announces departure of Executive Director

RICHMOND, B.C. - (November 22, 2010) - The Professional Golfers' Association of British Columbia announced today that Brian Butters, Executive Director for the past six years, is leaving the association.

"We wish to thank Mr. Butters for his time and commitment to the association, and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours," said Keith Gibson, President of the PGA of B.C. "Brian has been executive director during a time in which the landscape of the golf business has been changing dramatically, and he has helped us chart our way with skill and professionalism."

Mr. Butters served as Executive Director since April 2005. During this time, he oversaw a dramatic increase in the association's sponsorship and partnership revenue as well as growth in membership numbers. With responsibility for the association's tournament program, he helped create significant new opportunities for golf professionals in B.C. to compete among themselves and with amateur colleagues in professionally conducted events. In addition, Butters was the lead administrator in ushering in a modern membership and education program for golf professionals in British Columbia.

The PGA of BC board of directors intends to complete an analysis of the association's office needs in the early part of 2011. In the meantime, the existing office staff will handle the affairs of the association, with an Interim Operations Manager. Mr. Butters will provide consulting services to the association during this period.

"Our goal is to make an announcement in March at our Spring Seminar at Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club." said Mr. Gibson.
