Sherlock capped off one of the greatest Canadian amateur careers in years by making it all the way to the semi-final in the US Women’s Amateur that ended over the weekend. Her resume includes the 2007 Canadian Women’s Amateur, a 2008 CN Canadian Women’s Tour title, eight NCAA victories while at the University of Denver, a 6th place finish in the 2009 Canadian PGA Women’s Championship and a 4th place finish in the World Amateur Championship as part of Team Canada.

“It’s been a dream of mine to play professional golf for a long time and I’m really looking forward to it,” said Sherlock, who will head to LPGA Qualifying School this winter. “To make my professional debut in a Canadian PGA National Championship is pretty special and I hope to get my professional career off to a great start.”

Kim turns professional after a stellar career as an amateur that included two victories on the CN Canadian Women’s Tour, two BC Junior Girls Championship titles, two BC Bantam Girls Championship titles, two runner-up finishes at the Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship and a 2008 Player of the Year Award on the CN Canadian Women’s Tour.

“Stephanie and Sue are two fantastic prospects in Canadian golf and we are excited to see them make their professional debut at our National Women’s Championship,” stated Gary Bernard, Executive Director of the Canadian PGA. “We have another great field this year and we expect it to come down to the final hole on Wednesday afternoon at Burlington Golf & Country Club.”

Sherlock tees off at 9:10 am on Tuesday with defending champion Jessica Shepley of Oakville, ON and 1993 champion Lanie Cahill of Watertown, NY.

Kim tees off at 10:30 am on Tuesday with Clarissa Childs of Columbia, SC and Candace Schepperle of Birmingham, AL.

The winner of the 2010 Canadian PGA Women’s Championship will earn an exemption into the 2011 CN Canadian Women’s Open.

The event gets underway today with the Simmlands Insurance Pro-Am followed by championship play on Tuesday, August 17th and Wednesday, August 18th with 18 holes of stroke play each day.
