Danny King two-time Moe Norman Cup Champion

Great Lakes Tour - Oct 6-7, 2009

October 9, 2009 (Brantford, ON) -  Danny King is the first player to have his name engraved for a second time on the Moe Norman Cup. King overtook, 2009 GLT Rookie of the Year, Robbie Greenwell in a playoff late this afternoon at the 9th Annual Great Lakes Tour, Tour Championship. The two players fought the harsh conditions today and keep their two-day total in the red numbers (-3, 141 total). The 36 hole events took place at the Brantford Golf & C.C. The GLT Tour Championship is an exclusive event, only inviting the top 30 professionals from the season's order of merit and allows 6 exemptions. King had not played the minimum number of events, however was granted an exemption based on his prior win and as a his play this year on the Tour.

There is no question; today marked one of the toughest weather condition days many of the players had ever seen. The winds were from the Northwest and environment Canada reported gusts of over 70 kilometers/hr in the area. The cold winds and relentless squalls with showers made it impossible to stay dray and warm.

King remarked, "It was like "Survivor" out there! Testing both physical and mental endurance, I just tried to keep my focus and my hands warm." King was a gracious winner, shaking hands with the young rookie and congratulating him on his successful season on the Great Lakes Tour. King took home a cheque for $7000.00 which will help with his expenses he will incur in Houston TX next week at the 1st stage of PGA Tour School. "I will hold this Cup close to my heart, it is an honour to win". King first held this prestigious title back in 2003.

Other Notables: Brian McCann and Alan McLean tied for 3rd, posting scores of -2 (total 142). 2008 Moe Norman Cup Champion Michael Gligic finished at -1 and in a tie for 5th position.
